Removable appliances are used to tilt teeth, to expand the the upper and lower jaw or to close spaces.
It is possible to move single teeth without effecting the jawbone or the relation between the upper and lower jaw. They are often used to coordinate the width of the jaw before continuing further functional treatment.
However derotation, axis correction and parallel shifts are not possible.
The dental hygiene is not affected due to the removable nature of the appliances.
